7 Author Terrell Blodgett            11:30 am

Terrell Blodgett will be speaking on the book he co-authored with his wife, Dorothy Blodgett, now deceased, named “The Life of Pat Neff, the Land, the Law and the Lord.” Pat Neff was Governor of Texas from 1921 until 1925. Governor Neff was President of Baylor University. Mr. Blodgett is the Mike Hogg Professor Emeritus in Urban Management of the LBJ School of Affairs, University of Texas at Austin. He will be introduced by Helen Furlong.

14 Potter, Susie Fowler 11:30 a.m.
Rose Susie Fowler, AKA the Shade Tree POTTER of Spicewood, Texas, will demonstrate the process of her Kissed by Nature series of high fired-colored clay vessels. She will demonstrate her unique method of building large scale ceramic forms using soft slabs of clay, impressed with the textures of the flora and fauna from the Hill Country. She uses fossils, feathers, acorn caps and grapevine tendrils- whatever from nature catches her eye. She was recently featured on HGTV (Home Garden Television) completing the fabrication of her Texas Botanical Urn. To preview her work go to www.shadetreepotter.com. Thankful Hubbard will present this well known author of children’s books. Anne will be speaking on the big dreams of Buddy Holly, and some of her experiences during the writing process. Gayle Hudgens will introduce Anne.

4 Dr. Cynthia Buckley                    11:30 am

Dr. Cynthia Buckley, Associate Professor in the School of Sociology, will present a talk on the life and roles of women in the Islamic world. Dr. Buckley’s research interests focus on issues of gender, population, change, development and social implications of HIV and AIDS. Dr. Buckley is an endowed fellow at IC2 and a faculty affiliate for Women’s and Gender Studies, the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, and the Center for European Studies. Dr. Buckley will be introduced by Allen Hocker.
